Meet the Doctor
Herbert K. Land, D.D.S.
Dr. Herbert K. Land, III has been proudly practicing orthodontics for over 30 years. He loves to meet with new patients and their families to learn about their goals and help them get started on perfecting their smiles. Dr. Land became an orthodontist because of his wonderful experience getting braces as a young adult, so he's always thrilled to help others smile bigger and brighter with a boost of self-confidence!
Dr. Land is a North Carolina native, originally from New Bern. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1977 and then received his dental degree from Emory University in 1982. He received his specialized orthodontics certificate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984 and began practicing as a board-certified orthodontist in Raleigh.
In 2000, Dr. Land became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, the highest designation awarded in the field of orthodontics and a distinction held by only 20% of orthodontists nationally. In January 2004, Dr. Land began teaching orthodontic resident students as an Adjunct Professor at the UNC School of Dentistry. He has found his teaching experience to be extremely rewarding and fulfilling as he shares his experience to prepare the next generation.
Dr. Land's family includes his wife, Elizabeth, daughter, Caroline, son-in-law Corey, and son, Bradley. Besides being an Eagle Scout, his hobbies include travel, dancing and perennial gardening.

Clinical Coordinator & Lead Orthodontic Assistant
Orthodontics has been Cindy's career for many years. She began working with Dr. Land in the early 1990s after moving to North Carolina from Tennessee. It brings her great joy to give our patients smiles that last a lifetime. Outside the office, she and her husband, Ron love giving back to the community and sharing the love of God. Most of all, they enjoy having fun with their precious grandchildren.
Theresa has been helping make smiles brighter since 1985. Her first job in orthodontics was in Chicago, but soon after moved back closer to home in Northern Virginia to hone her skills further in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. In 2007, she relocated with her husband and two sons here to North Carolina. This has been her home ever since and she loves to help patient after patient work towards their new smiles!
Cindy started working in orthodontics in 2006 and enjoys making your orthodontic experience fun by promoting our many contests and events. She is married to her wonderful husband, Brandon and they enjoy spending time with their daughter Brooklyn and two dogs, Bristol and Finley. They also love to travel and cheer on the Wolfpack at NC State football and basketball games.
Tammy has worked in orthodontics since 1990 and loves to help make beautiful smiles. In addition to putting on and taking off braces, Tammy makes all of the retainers for our office. She enjoys pouring up models of your teeth and creating appliances to help you keep your teeth straight long after you get your braces off. Tammy is married to Johnny and has 3 daughters, Crystal, Ellen, and Megan, as well as one grandchild, Janey. She also has a dog named Harley. In her spare time, Tammy likes to travel and spend time with friends and family.
Sharon was Dr. Land's first dental assistant when he started his practice in 1986. She loves orthodontics and seeing the positive changes in each patient throughout their treatment. She love working with Dr. Land and the wonderful team at Land Orthodontics. Sharon retired from orthodontics for a period to start her family, but is excited to back working with patients now that her three daughters are older. Sharon lives in Wake Forest and enjoys cooking, dancing, and photography.
Hannah hails from Siler City and recently joined our team. She is excited to learn more and more every day about orthodontics and loves to help patients achieve that perfect smile they've always dreamed of.
Christopher hails from northeastern NC but proudly calls Durham, the Bull City, his home. He joined us in October 2015 as he began to apply to dental school with hopes of becoming a dentist (maybe orthodontist?) himself. We are excited for him to begin working towards his own D.D.S. at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Fall 2017. Christopher loves spending time with his wife Sara (of 4 years) with whom he shares two lovely little beansprouts - Eliza Lee (2.5) and Ballard Gideon (9 mos.).
